How to Crochet the Star Stitch

MATERIALS USED

One of Imperial Stock Ranch’s newest offerings, Erin is a terrific all-around medium worsted weight yarn. It is especially nice for color work and textured stitch patterns. Available in eight colors as well as Natural and is a great choice for hand dye projects.These hooks have the broadest size range within the Susan Bates family of hooks. Made of lightweight aluminum; each Silvalume hook undergoes a special anodizing process that etches away all surface impurities. In addition, each hook is heat treated for strength and durability and polished for a velvety smooth finish. This hook has a 22in flexible cable; which aids in working a large number of stitches.

PATTERN INSTRUCTIONS

Multiples of 2 + 1

• Row 1: Pick up a loop in 2nd ch and in each of next 4 ch (6 loops on hook), yo and through all loops on hook, ch 1 (this forms eye of star), *pick up a loop in the eye of last star, pick up a loop through the back of last loop of previous star, pick up a loop through same ch as last loop of previous star, pick up a loop in each of next 2 ch (6 loops on hook), yo and through all 6 loops, ch 1, rep from * across, ending with 1 hdc in last ch (same ch as last loop of last star st), turn.
• Row 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in hdc, 1 sc in eye of next star st, 2 sc in eye of each star st across, ending with 1 sc in top of turning ch, turn.
• Row 3: Ch 2, pick up loop in front strand of 2nd ch from hook, then pick up a loop in the back strand of same ch, pick up loop in each of next 3 sc, yo and through all 6 loops, ch 1, *pick up a loop in eye of last star, pick up loop in back of last loop of star, pick up loop in same sc as last loop of star, pick up a loop in each of next 2 sc, yo and through all 6 loops, ch 1, rep from * across, ending with hdc in last sc (same sc as last loop of last star st).
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have reached your desired length.

Easy Color Block Crochet Blanket Tutorial -Step by step-

 Materials:

- Finished Size: 70 wide x 65 (You'll notice it finishes wider than the foundation chain because of the weight of the yarn it stretches out).
- 6 skeins of size 5 or 6 yarn in each color. I used Loops and Threads - yarn (sold at Michaels). Bernat Sofftee Chunky is very similar! any other thicker size 5 or 6 yarn with slight texture will give you a similar result. I linked the Bernat, so you can see what it looks like.
-Size Q or 16 mm crochet hook. Also known as a speed hook.
-smaller crochet hook for weaving in ends
-scissors for triming

Instructions
1. Take 2 strands at the same time and make a slip knot. Tighten around the hook.
2. Chain 70 chains... or 50 inches with very little tension.
3. hdc in 3rd chain from hook and repeat in each chain all the way down, use very little tension at this point, it will help you down the line.
4. Ch 2 and turn.
5. hdc in 2nd stitch over from edge of the blanket and continue in each stitch. Be sure to get the hdc in that last turning chain stitch.
6. Ch 2 and turn
7.Repeat until you run out of that color yarn.
-When you run out of yarn, I did not run out at the same time. Tie the 2 ends (the yarn you are using and the new yarn) and continue. Don't forget to weave in all the little ends later. When you run out of the next skein of yarn, attache the next skein. This way the tails to be weaved in will be staggered and unnoticeable.
8. When you finish a row of color 1 and don't have enough to complete another row, add your new color when you make your last hdc. WHen you have the 3 loops on your hook for that last stitch, add the 2 strands on your hook and pull through. Tighten everything up, chain 2 and turn continuing on like we have been.
9. Continue adding skeins of yarn and change to your 3rd color and crochet until you can fully complete a row and cannot complete another.
10. Weave in all the ends very well.

Haakpatroon popcornsteekgranny’s – Deel 1
Omdat er veel vraag was naar hoe ik de granny’s uit de vorige blogpost haakte, hierbij deel 1 van het haakpatroon:

Kleur 1 – popcornsteekrondjes

De eerste drie toeren haakte ik aan de hand van het haakpatroon van Mille Makes, die ik vond via CocoRoseDiaries. Omdat niet iedereen het Engels volgt, hierbij de vertaling:

Toer 1: Haak vier lossen en sluit met een halve vaste. Haak 1 losse en vervolgens 7 vasten in de ring.

Toer 2: Haak in elke vaste (8x) een popcornsteek gevolgd door 3 lossen. Hoe je een popcornsteek haakt, leg ik uit in deze tutorial: Haakpatroon Popcornsteek Ponchorand. Sluit met een halve vast.

Toer 3: Haak een halve vaste in de lossenboog en haak een popcornsteek om de lossenboog (het eerste stokje vervang je door 3 lossen), haak 3 lossen en haak nog een popcornsteek in hetzelfde lossenboogje. Haak 3 lossen en haak in de volgende lossenboog: 1 popcornsteek, 3 lossen, 1 popcornsteek. Herhaal dit tot je rond bent en sluit met een halve vaste achter in de eerste popcornsteek en hecht af.



Kleur 2 – 1e bloemblaadjesrand

Toer 4: Hecht aan om een lossenboog, haak 1 losse (=1 vaste) en 3 lossen, haak 1 vaste om de volgende lossenboog en weer 3 lossen. Herhaal dit tot je rond bent en sluit met een halve vaste in de eerste losse.

Toer 5: Haak een halve vaste om de lossenboog, haak 1 losse (=1 vaste), 3 stokjes en 1 vaste in dezelfde lossenboog. In elke volgende lossenboog: 1 vaste, 3 stokjes, 1 vaste. Sluit met een halve vaste en hecht af.

How to Make an African Flower Hexagon *Easy!

Start by making a slip knot, and make 5 chain stitches.
Slip stitch into the first chain, to make a ring.
Chain 3 (this will form the first dc).
Make a dc into the ring. Chain one.
Make 2 dc into the ring. You should now have 4 dc’s separated by a chain stitch.
Repeat, until you have six x (2dc, ch,2dc) sets.
Slip stitch into the third chain of your initial 3chain, made at the beginning of the round.
Cut yarn, join a new color.
Insert hook into the space just to the right of the 3ch leg from the previous round. Yarn around hook, pull yarn through, ch3.
1dc into the same space.
Ch1 and the make 2dc into the same space again.
Repeat the previous steps into the next chain space from the previous round.
Continue with these repeats until you have six sets of 2dc,ch1,2dc.
Join to the third chain stitch with a slip stitch, to close the round.
Insert your hook into the space created by the chain stitch between the 2dc’s.
Chain 3. This again is taking the place of the first dc, and you count it as 1 dc stitch.
Make 6 further dc into the same space. There should be 7 dc’s.
Repeat the same into each space
End by with slip stitch.
Cut yarn, and join new.
Insert hook into the first chain stitch space, yarn around hook, pull yarn through. Yarn around hook again, pull through the stitch on the hook.
You have made the first sc into the first chain loop.
Repeat 6 times more (sc into every successive chain loop, until there are 7 sc in total).
You will now do a dc , into the 3rd round space as seen in the pic.This will make a very long dc stitch, but will help to shape the flower petal.
Continue to work you way around the hexagon…7sc, dc, 7sc, dc etc, until you get back to the beginning…as always, join the round by slip stitch into the first sc.
Cut yarn and join a new color.
Chain 3.
Dc into the next loop of the sc you made in the previous round. Repeat until you have 4dc made.
You will now have reached the middle of the top of the flower petal. Ch1, then make another dc into the same space as the previous dc. It is this chain that helps to form the hexagon shape.
Work your way around the hexagon, working in the above pattern.
Join the last dc to the 3rd chain of the beginning leg, as in the previous rounds.

Wat is haken
Haken is een techniek waarbij je met behulp van één naald, met een haakje er aan, een stof maakt. Door steeds een lusje door een lusje te halen kan zo een patroon worden gemaakt.
Haken kan met wol, katoen, repen stof (textielgaren) en allerlei andere soorten garens.

Door verschillende steken te gebruiken kan diversiteit worden aangebracht in het patroon. Een aantal van deze steken zijn: vaste, losse, stokje, half stokje, dubbel stokje.

Materialen:

    4 ballen van maat 10 gehaakte draad. Ik wil 2 lichte kleuren en 2 donkere kleuren te gebruiken voor een nette marmeren effect. Voel je vrij om 250 yards van licht wollen gewicht garen te gebruiken in plaats.
    F (3,75 mm) haaknaald
    9 inch rits.
    1 stuk van 8,5 "x 11" ambachtelijke voelde
    1 stukje plastic doek (optioneel)
    Stitch marker (paperclip)
    Garen naald
    Schaar
    Bloem of andere versieringen (optioneel)

Instructies:

Afgewerkt size = 10 "breed met 6,5" high.

Purse: Maak een slipknot. Keten 42.
Ronde 1: sla de eerste 3 chs. Maak 1 v in de volgende l en in iedere l over. Totaal = 39 dc + 1 ch3 = 40 steken. Pivot werk. Maak 40 dc aan de andere kant van de keten.
Rondes 2-13 +: Werken in spiralen, dc in elke steek rond, markering eerste steek. Totaal = 80 dcs elke ronde. Na rnd 3, zorgen de breedte portemonnee is 10 inches. Maak zoveel rondjes als nodig is om 6,5 "high te bereiken. Niet snijden / binden nog af.

Rits: Naai de rits aan ambachtelijke voelde.


Montage: Plaats de voering in de tas. Plaats cut & gemeten plastic doek in tussen voering en gehaakte stof. Met behulp van de bestaande lijn, sc rond de top, zowel de portemonnee en het steken van de rits te vangen. Knippen en weven in alle uiteinden. Naaien of lijm op de versieringen.
